At least we don't have to see Maroon play the inevitable hero against his former team tonight. Congrats indeed to Briere! Class act all the way- so clutch. Making everyone think once again, "Michel Therrien is an idiot!"

I like Belle on the second line. He has earned it with his hard work and well.....it can't be much worse then what has happened thus far.

Coburn come back SOON!

"Well this is awkward."

Panthers vs Sens in Florida featured an announced attendance of just a whisker over 7,000 people.

Beating Anaheim could provide a huge boost of confidence to the Flyers. It would go a long way to getting this team back on track and through this murderer's row of games

I saw the pictures of the arena. Unreal. Looked like what most places look like an hour from puck drop. Could have held archery practice in there.

Get the Panthers in Quebec City, and get them there now!

Honestly, whatever city that does end up getting them is getting a team with a hell of a young nucleus.

With a little break in the schedule, it will give them some much needed practice time as well. What a gauntlet of games upcoming. Getting Coburn back this weekend will help. Do you think when Coburn comes back Schultz will remain in the lineup, with either L. Schenn or Del Zotto a healthy scratch?

Absolutely. They have a good core of youth. They will take their lumps for a couple of years, but they certainly aren't void of talent.

My fear is that they will not want to repeat the 3rd period where they had no life, no fight, no emotion, and no compete. However, in typical fashion, they end up going overboard and taking reckless penalties which result in endless power plays for the Ducks.

Final score. 6-2.

I don't think that's what will happen. However, if the decision was based purely on play and not on "ranking" (assuming the status quo remains tonight), I'd say MDZ would be the one to sit. At least for a few games.

Whoever develops the schedules is no fan of the flyers. How many preseason games in a row did they play without a night off? Then you start the season 3 games in 4 nights, 2 days off, game, 3 days off, then a 3 game road trip that features Blackhawks on Tuesday and Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Crazy Crazy!!

They didn't exactly do Pittsburgh any favors either, although it's not the murderer's row the Flyers will face.

And at some pint in the season, other teams will face the same thing while the Flyers get a break.

I would think MDZ would be the one to get scratched. Schultz seems to play better on the left side.

Just a little example of how quick things can change in Hockey. In the pre season, many were very unhappy with how Nick Schultz looked. Now after 3 games, there's talk of him replacing another defenseman in the lineup when Coburn comes back.
Same thing with the up and down play in the first 3 games. It can change in a hurry. Of course it could also get worse.

In all honesty, I view both MDZ and Schultz as nothing more than 6/7 defenders at this point in their career. There's a reason why no one wanted him until the Flyers had their hand forced by the Timonen injury. Saying one #6/7 is better than another 6/7 isn't really Earth-shattering.

Agreed. Schultz has held his own nicely but man did I hate him in the preseason.

No it's not. But that's not really the point. The point is about persepctive. Many were excited about Del Zotto, but he's struggled a little bit in the season. Schultz for whatever reason, looked like he flat out couldn't play in pre season. But he's played well in the 2 games he has played.
